The CVARC Field Day 2009 Project

Field Day 2009 for the Cumberland Valley Amateur Radio Club was carried off relatively smoothly and was a fun time for all involved.

Field Day 2009 Media Coverage

We sent letters of invitation to many of the elected and appointed officials in our area, as well as to leaders in the organizations we serve.

A reporter (Vickie Taylor) from the Public Opinion newspaper visisted us on Saturday. Her story appeared in the Sunday edition, 3rd page of the 1st section, occupying about one-third of the page. [local copy & accompanying photo or online version]

The Cumberland Valley Amateur Radio Club invites you to join us for our annual Field Day event on June 27 & 28, 2008.

We will be setting up from about 9:00am Saturday, continuously operating from 2:00pm Saturday to about 2:00pm Sunday, with teardown completed by 3:30pm Sunday. We expect to be operating as 3A, with GOTA and VHF/UHF. Talk-in is on W3ACH 147.120+ (no PL) repeater.

Our location will be the C.V. Antique Engine & Machinery Association's show grounds west of Chambersburg. The showgrounds address is 1501 Crider's Church Road, Chambersburg, PA. These equivalent coordinates locate the center of operations:

  • decimal degrees: 39.943833N, 77.744833W
  • lat/long: +39° 56' 37.80", -77° 44' 41.40"
  • GPS coord: N39°56.63, W77°44.69

Directions: Take 81 to 30W exit, travel about 6 miles on 30W, at the signal-light turn right on Twin Bridges Road and go (carefully, due to the sharp curves) 1.5 miles. At the intersection, bear left on Criders Church Road, and in about 1000 feet, turn left at the show grounds entrance.

We are listed on the ARRL Field Day Locator under W3ACH. Here are printable directions to our Field Day Site from US-11N, US-11S, and US-30W. And here is Google Maps' suggestion on how to get there from the intersection of Routes 81 & 30.
