Thank You!

The event is now over, and most of the gear stowed again.

It went well from our perspective (as hams).

The event went well from the event organizer's expectation; and we as ham communicators really impressed the organizers with our calm, competent, and complete communication.

On behalf of Andrew (the organizer) I extend to each of you a hearty thanks for helping make the day successful for botht eh bicyclists adn us hams.

Ralph Brandt K3HQI photodocumented his checkpoint (BRAVO), and has made his photo gallery available.

THis event will be report to WPA as a Franklin County ARES activation with eleven participants for approximately 5.5 hours.

  • This link is the communications plan we will be following for this event.
  • This link is the Checkpoint Map for the North Half of the courses showing the approximate locations we will be manning.
  • This link is the Checkpoint Map for the South Half of the courses showing the approximate locations we will be manning.
  • Information about the optional, secondary, activity piggy-backed on this bike event--a reverse RDF of the SAG wagons. Click here for details.
  • In the Checkpoint maps, the longer 40 mile course is in red, the medium 22 mile course is in aqua, and the short 12 mile course in is green. The checkpoints are labled with circled black letters. The riders will move clockwise around the courses from the starting point.
  • This link is for a single sheet summary of the comms plan showing checkpoint information/assignments and the combined course maps. Copies of this sheet will be available at the event, and can also be used in secondary activity for the plotting the RDF vectors.

(ALPHA) There is not any good place to park here, except possibly the back entrance to the car wash. This location and BRAVO are the worst locations.
(BRAVO) There is not any good place to park here
(CHARLIE) Possibly park across RT 11 at the church, according to KB3MUN's map notes. Bank parking lot is a secondary consideration.
(DELTA) Some parking along the road, not too many places
(ECHO) Location good for parking
(FFOXTROT) Church parking lot located on Rabbit Road South is safe
(GOLF) Church parking lot located on east side of RT 11 - safe or perhaps the dairy parking lot?
(HOTEL) Roadside parking, primarily to direct bicylists thru a confusing intersection.

Repeater access is good from all locations.
Simplex access is fair from all locations. Positions ECHO and BRAVO cannot copy each other, so relays will be required.
